Find Life Coach | Meet Chanel N. Johnson: How to Improve The Relationship you Have with Your Self

We believe that being a life coach is really similar to being a superhero.

Each life coach is unique, like a superhero. They all dedicate their whole life helping people. Each with their own personal origin story and a special “superpower” they use to help others.

Most often, their superpower is first their greatest obstacle, and once they go through their own personal metamorphosis, they develop a skills to help others do the same. They uncover a truth that was within them all along. They transmute their flaws into their greatest strength.

Whatever it is, it’s a transformational process extremely similar like that of a Superhero.

And just like with the Avengers, we went on a mission to find all the unique life coaches with huge potential from all around the world and bring them together as the Earth’s Mightiest Supercoaches.

Chanel N. Johnson is one of the coaches we found and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us. Here is what she said.

Meet Life Coach Chanel N. Johnson:

Name: Chanel N. Johnson
Pillar: The Mind
Who is this coach for: Anyone who feels lost in life and has low self confidence.
How they can help: Build a better relationship with your self and increase self confidence.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these Pandemic times?

We are doing amazing despite the current pandemic environment. We are learning to appreciate each other and find out new things about each other. Our bond has grown and gratitude and appreciation are at an all time high for us.

How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?

It has affected my clients in various ways. I have a rise in relationship and family counseling. When a busy family has to stay home with minimal outlets, the forced quality time can be overwhelming.

From another aspect, my rise in business coaching is impressive. Many people are opening businesses to leave the workforce or supplement their income. It’s exciting to see how the pandemic has released such great creativity.

I see an adjustment that was uncomfortable initially now being accepted and the lower energy moods are slowly rising back up.

What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?

The biggest lessons I learned from the pandemic were to listen to the wise counsel in my head, be still, stay focused, put me first, and trust the process.

I have struggled with all of these things separately and together at different times. I made a pact with myself that I would live in accountability and do something for myself daily.

The Origin:

Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?

It is a pleasure to meet you, I am Chanel Johnson, a native New Yorker who relocated to sunny San Diego, CA 8 years ago. I am an Ori Healing coach. We provide coaching services for life, relationships, family, miscarriage and bereavement, business, personal finance, fitness, and early childhood education consulting.

When I arrived in San Diego, I was in the healthcare field and started a home health care agency. I was sat down for a few years by cancer but I came out of the other side knowing my purpose. I enjoyed taking care of people and in essence I still do, just from a different practice. I started my coaching career after conquering some difficult health battles.

The knowledge I obtained in my research about the mind, attitude, thoughts, self talk, behaviors, and the connection to health lead me to coach. The ability to give a first hand experience of the mind’s power to heal set me in motion.

I studied and studied and applied what I learned to my own life. I saw results, significant results and I started sharing little concepts with others. The feedback I received planted the seed of me becoming a full time coach.

This year I added on business coaching and personal finance coaching. I decided to share my knowledge on starting businesses with the increase of people ready to start businesses due to the pandemic.

I give a road map for people that allows them to be fully involved in their goals and learn to sail to success. I educated myself on different aspects of coaching, took quite a few coaching courses, still have more on my list, and developed my own coaching system.

Coaching is an extremely rewarding experience. What is better than helping people find reasons to smile and turning their ideas into reality?

Coaches do much more, but the highlight to me is when I ask at the end of each session, “How do you feel?” and I hear “Better!”

Having someone allow you on their life path, even if it’s 1 step with them is an honor!

I also am the facilitator of the Ori Women’s Circle. A women’s group that provides a safe space for women to be open and honest in a judgment free zone with the support and accountability of a sisterhood.

Each sister has a business launching this year or already launched. We are a necessary outlet for each other and we consistently motivate and encourage each other to be our best selves.

All of my experiences and relationships have molded me and I have created a mosaic for myself. This is what I bring to coaching, an understanding that things go wrong and solutions to get back on track. My next goal is to take my coaching to the stage and move into public speaking.

What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?

My journey into coaching came from a health challenge, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer and my healing journey lead me to become a coach.

I healed myself with nature, no chemotherapy or radiation but I did have 2 mastectomies. My experiences were beautiful and morbid at times. I learned that a majority of my challenge was my denial of acceptance, self forgiveness, emotions, disappointments and that I had a right to feel.

I put myself on a plane and set life on autopilot. I wasn’t living, I was existing. I owe this realization to the Optimum Health Institute. This is where I was introduced to my internal self and developed the ability to reach alpha consciousness through meditation.

The program at OHI opened me to many aspects of myself I never knew existed. The OHI experience made me want to share the ability to find joy in storms. I built a desire to help individuals by introducing them to tools that can help them build their authentic selves.

The Coaching Style:

How do you innovate with coaching your clients?

I’ve never thought of my coaching as innovative. I actively listen to what is being said while using discernment to hear what the client may mean, to source the root of the challenge.

I take the client through clear and realistic identities of the challenge and we discuss how it affects their life, habits, and behaviors.

From there we start to exchange the challenges for achievements and learn healthier habits in building a stronger relationship with self.

What’s unique about your coaching approach?

Here is another interesting question. I never think about being unique so I can’t directly answer the question. I believe the goal of all coaches is to provide their clients the best service.

To say unique would breed comparison and I haven’t sat with enough coaches to compare coaching styles. I judge my coaching by the results of my clients and the healthy relationships they build with themselves.

My coaching is about an indescribable feeling and transformation that I experienced on my journey to self and wanting to walk with others to have their own.

What benefits do your clients get after working with you?

My clients have a stronger sense of identity, they allow themselves to be heard, they feel worthy, they have confidence, they are organized and focused, they create healthy habits of success, they start successful businesses, they build better communication skills that translate to their relationships, family, and careers, they learn how to deal with fears, to recognize and stage themselves through triggers, they learn to create their own love language, and most importantly, they learn to love themselves as a whole person.

Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?

I have exercises I use for my sessions. My top exercise is a life evaluation and tolerations list.

It is important, to be honest with yourself about where you are in life at the moment and what is creating obstacles in order to set clear goals for improvement.

The Impact:

If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?

Use your imagination to hug someone, even if it’s a stranger, allow yourself to be hugged, say thank you to the person with a smile, say thank you to yourself with a smile. Capture that feeling in your memory and go there when you need to be pulled up.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?

My greatest life lesson I have learned is that love is whatever I want it to be.

There is no time, schedule, reason, or validation necessary to love, you can just love.

Loving, even what you don’t like, is a practice that has allowed me to change my reactions and not be triggered by things that would have in the past set me on fire.

It’s easier to love, sometimes from a distance, and without contact.

Your final thoughts?

Live! Actively engage your life and nature.

Hug a tree, put your bare feet in the grass, dangle them in a stream, sit in the sun, take a deep breath outside, feel the breeze on your skin.

Connect with nature and you will find a deeper connection to yourself.
