Deb Jones is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her honesty and courage.
She has always been empathetic and wanted to help people. From being a police officer to being a life coach, Deb faced many lessons that made her wiser and more experienced.
Over the last 17 years she has been growing, learning and expanding her business and skills to support her clients with their mental, emotional and spiritual growth.
She is definitely a woman that walks her talk. She helps her clients unstuck themselves from subconscious blockages and live a life full of meaning. Here is what she said.
Meet Life Coach Deb Jones:
Name: Deb Jones
Pillar: The Spirit
Who is this coach for: Anyone who feels stuck or blocked in life and wants to liberate themselves.
How they can help: By using a drawn timeline of the client’s life and a Block Clearance Therapy.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these Pandemic times?
I am lucky to say we all made it through and are fighting fit.
The pandemic was life changing for us all. Seeing the meaning to what we were facing helped both me and my older children to maximize our experiences in a positive way, however challenging it was at the time.
Personally, my life entering lockdown looked very different to what it has transformed into.
I decided to uproot my life and move to another country, taking my business with me to Spain from the UK. My need for growth and expansion pushed me beyond my limits to a new life I could not have imagined!
How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?
Like most therapists, my business previously was all in person before switching to zoom almost over night.
Naturally, I lost some clients in the lockdown due to finances and those who were unable to gain privacy within their home to talk about their issues.
This was a tough time for most, having given up their freedom, social contact and income and the difficult experience of family being together in the confines of their home, and for others to be completely alone.
For me, I suddenly found myself alone, unable to see my children and fear and panic set in.
I was recently separated and had just bought my own home, how was I to financially cope? How would I mentally survive?
What I so quickly learned was how my external world pulled together, and were so resourceful in keeping in touch and providing entertainment for each other.
We made it fun! I was learning a new way of being and was loving it!
I could see I was being given time, time to complete tasks I had not yet accomplished, time to heal and work on my separation and financial support for my business, so The Universe provided for me in SO many ways.
I felt very grateful for this time that I would never get again in my life and I took as much meaning from it as I could.
I transferred this insight to my clients to help them understand their learning and stay positive and connected.
And then, my life changed. I woke up one morning with the idea to move to Spain.
I have no idea where that came from other than a previous dream laid dormant, but I intuitively knew to trust it.
I put the house on the market, told my family and friends and 5 months later I’m on a plane with my son to Malága!
The pandemic gave me a gift and a path that I chose to follow and so pleased I did. I will be forever grateful.
What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?
I learned to be still, to listen to my inner world and not be afraid of it.
To enjoy the simple things in life and take away the white noise of the life we previously led and notice all that is important.
To be resourceful, productive and consistent.
And most importantly that what we want in life does not need to be a dream, it can be a reality!
The Origin:
Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?
I feel I have always possessed empathy. It has always felt natural for me to want to help and listen to people.
I had gone through life with a want to help people on a deeper level, which in previous professions as a Police Officer and Parenting adviser, could not meet. So, I trained as an Integrative Counsellor in 2005.
Over the last 17 years I have been growing, learning and expanding my business and skills to support clients with their mental, emotional and spiritual growth.
In 2010 I had a spiritual awakening with the sudden sad loss of my cousin, which led me to explore my life and beyond it. My life needed to change if I was to grow and complete my life purpose.
Through my own discoveries and finding an esoteric spiritual guide I found a therapy called Block Clearance Therapy®, this connected me to my spiritual higher self and from here my life accelerated and I felt my purpose became clear.
My purpose was to help others with their understanding of their deeper mental health process and their spiritual connection.
I have noticed that the clients who are drawn to me very quickly tell me they are looking for that connection. I enjoy using the mix of traditional therapy, subconscious work and spiritual meaning in my sessions to give a holistic therapeutic approach to my work.
What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?
Outwardly I have always appeared to have confidence. I have been a performer, a police officer, mother, wife, therapist, friend and appeared to do it with ease but this has not always been the case for me internally.
I have always needed hand holding. My inner child is vulnerable at times, scared and lacks confidence and self belief and at times it deceives me.
I believe becoming single again, in a pandemic and finding myself living this chapter alone, has taught me self reliance, self confidence and belief and that I can move forward and face challenges far beyond my parameters.
So the push to move to a new country, to a culture and language I did not then know has now catapulted me to the next level of growth. In my eyes, that’s a huge obstacle overtaken!
The Coaching Style:
How do you innovate with coaching your clients?
I have no set plan at the outset.
I work with what the client brings, often described as a ‘jumbled up ball of wool’, so we grab a strand and follow it.
It often feels like a mess for them and it is from my skill set that I can see more clearly what is the root cause of their distress.
Clarity is what they are coming for, so they feel less powerless and regain hope.
Understanding and applying meaning to each of their situations helps my clients to find their lesson.
When they discover this, we can then work together to turn that back into power and balanced responsibility to help them get back on track in their lives.
Using the subconscious, Block Clearance Therapy helps us to access their early memories to find the root cause and reconnect with their inner child, this empowers them to make positive changes and recreate new patterns.
What’s unique about your coaching approach?
I have a unique skill set, that I built up for over 50 years even before I was a coach. It’s like no other toolkit.
I love the different dimensions of the work I offer, the pure essence of me that allows me to help people grow. I’m warm, intuitive, honest and at times direct but always from a place of compassion and intention.
What benefits do your clients get after working with you?
A client described my therapy as a laundry basket, washed, ironed and folded at the end of each session. I walk their journey with them until they are ready to walk it alone.
Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?
In my first session I draw a timeline of the client’s life, from birth to the present day to include everyone and everything significant that has been part of their journey.
From that, we can follow family patterns to where they are struggling now. Ordering their life in chronological order is a powerful tool of self reflection and insight, and I believe that the biggest part of our work together is done in those early weeks using the timeline.
The Impact:
If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?
“If you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you’ve always got”
If you want change, if you feel stuck or blocked I’m here to help you free yourself to live your life with more meaning.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?
That we can only be happy, truly happy, love and truly feel love if we know ourselves.
We can seek validation, love and happiness from outside sources, but unless we spend time with ourselves and in our internal world, nothing will feel stable.
I have loved this chapter of my life alone, learning about what I want and don’t want moving forward, what fills me with joy, who I want in my life and what I want to do to fill my time.
For the first time, life feels like I’m living it.
Your final thoughts?
I am here in this life to fulfill a purpose to heal myself and others on their soul journey of growth and expansion.
I feel privileged to support those souls through their pain, and to help them gain meaning to their life that can often lighten the load of this road we travel.
Doing this healing work gives so much joy and meaning to my life.
I send love and light to the souls on my journey from the past, present and yet to come.
