Robyn Harris is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her professionalism and dedication.
Just like any great superhero, the origins of her coaching comes from facing her personal adversities.
Through massive time invested in working on herself, facing fears, releasing negative energy, healing and learning, she acquired a vast experience of tools, techniques and methods to help herself and her clients.
Maybe the world is full of information that breeds Fear, negative beliefs, suffering, but working on yourself is the best remedy against all of that. Here is what she said.
Name: Robyn Harris
Pillar: The Spirit, The Heart
Who is this coach for: Anyone who wants to reprogram their negative beliefs that keep them stuck and become the best version of themselves.
How they can help: By using a tool called MetaConsciousness.
Thankfully, my family and I are well and, apart from my brother, have been fortunate not to be directly affected by coronavirus.
It has hit many people’s confidence, both due to fear of the disease itself, and also due to the loss of connection and the message that, in order to stay safe and healthy, we needed to stay away from other people.
This has left many feeling fearful and anxious.
“Did it affect you at all?”
It made me even more passionate about sharing what I do in order to reduce, and even take away, the fear of dis ease, while also empowering people in knowing how best to support their wellbeing.
One of my main drivers is to support people in moving away from fear and closer to love, hope and understanding.
I love seeing their faces light up when they realise that they have the skills, resources and wisdom they need within themselves…
When they realise that they can give themselves permission to trust in these things and to listen to their intuition…
When they realise that the change doesn’t have to be big, scary, painful or overwhelming, that it’s actually about the small, simple steps that feel good and manageable.
This is what brings lasting healing.
The pandemic also meant that all of my work went online.
Thankfully I already had experience of Zoom sessions so I knew that this is equally effective.
One of the benefits of this is that it allows me to connect with people anywhere in the world.
That our world is often full of messages of fear, which cause us stress, which lowers our vitality and actually makes us more vulnerable to getting sick, with more intense symptoms, that last for a longer time.
Addressing this stress is one of the best things that we can do for our wellbeing.
As I think is fairly common with wellbeing coaches, my career started with my own healing journey.
I was an anxious child who became a perfectionist and a people pleaser in an effort to make my environment feel like a safer place for me.
However, as you might imagine, this led to high levels of stress and resulted in me becoming ill, first with migraines and IBS, then glandular fever followed by chronic fatigue syndrome.
Basically I was in burn out.
I ended up in a wheelchair and then on bed rest for 8 weeks.
At first this was a scary and horrible place to be.
Thankfully I was still living at home so didn’t need to worry about a job or a mortgage and I had my mum to look after me and provide food for me, but I worried about when, and even if, I would get better.
Then mum took me along to a peer support group and looking around I saw people who’s whole identity was tied up in their illness.
This shifted something in me.
I did NOT want to end up in that place!
Still, it took me ‘giving in’ to the fatigue I was feeling, to allow and accept it, before I really began to heal.
I needed to go within and to delve deep into how I felt and what I wanted my life to be like, to listen to my body and to allow it to teach me and to share its wisdom with me.
I needed to face some uncomfortable things, but in doing so I was able to go through some much needed processing, and then, one day, I came to the realisation that I didn’t need my dis ease any more.
I suddenly felt able to get up and face the world again, so I did!
Fast forward a few years though, and I found myself heading down that slippery slope once more.
I realised that I was highly stressed again, and the stresses were bringing up stuff from my past that was still lurking, deep down inside of me.
This time I recognised that I need to do something about it.
I tried conventional routes, medication and counselling, but they weren’t really giving me what I was looking for.
I wanted to feel strong, with a sense of autonomy and access to my inner wisdom (I was fortunate that something inside of me still believed this was possible) but pills and therapy actually just left me feeling dependent and still in ‘victimhood’.
I recognised that this was a pattern for me and knew that, until I changed this, I could not be fully well.
Being a bookworm I started to read, looking for clues and answers to my deep, inner questions.
And I think it’s true that ‘when the student is ready, the teacher appears’!
I found some amazing writers. Over the years this has included Neale Donald Walsch, Caroline Myss, Wayne Dyer, Bruce Lipton, Andrew Cohen, Gabor Maté, Louise Hay, Bessel van der Kolk, Abraham Hicks, and many others from whom I learnt SO much about trauma, Adverse Childhood Experiences, the wisdom of the body, self compassion, love and healing.
It radically changed my perspective on Life, and therefore my experience.
My wellbeing improved dramatically!
My migraines, IBS and eczema disappeared and the fatigue, anxiety and depression all greatly decreased to the point where my moods and energy are now at normal levels.
Having experienced this transformation, and knowing that it IS possible, my passion is to share what I’ve learnt with others so that they, too, can find their answers.
And that’s the thing, it’s about supporting them to find their own unique answers from within.
I’m not saying to anyone that they should do what I did, but rather that they will benefit from finding the ways that help them listen to their own body and follow it’s wisdom, allowing it to guide them in their healing.
Fear. And anxiety.
I’m still a work in progress on this, but I’m getting better at taking a step back and exploring, with open curiosity, what I’m feeling and where the feelings actually come from, knowing that they’re just information, they’re not a reflection of my worth as a person, nor do they mean that I’m not worthy (a belief that I’ve carried for many years but that I’m now unravelling).
I now know that my thoughts create my beliefs, so if my thoughts are fearful and anxious, this sets my filters in such a way that I see more things to be fearful and anxious about.
So, if I observe my thoughts consciously, I have the ability to interrupt, reframe and change them, enabling me to change my experience.
A major part of my journey was learning about a thing called “MetaConsciousness“.
This is pretty much what it says: Meta or Overarching. Consciousness or Awareness.
It’s a profound awareness of self, the process of wellbeing and dis ease, and of the biological processes that the body uses in its attempts to work through trauma.
This tool helps us to unpick symptoms, to understand that these are just information, and to know how to use that information in order to support healing.
Also, I’ve been described as a Wellbeing Alchemist.
I bring a unique perspective and an intuitive insight into my work, which helps people to make new connections and get greater understanding and appreciation of what their body is asking for, so that they can begin to work with their body in order to meet these needs in a constructive and transformative way.
It draws on the lessons of Nature in order for us to gain a deeper understanding of ourselves, our needs and how to best support our healing.
It’s about looking at the unique individual and, with playfulness, curiosity and love, reconnecting with our sense of hope, freedom and sovereignty in order to live in alignment with our own inner Truth.
They get to see that they are worthy.
That Life is full of colour, beauty, joy and hope.
That transformation is always possible and that they can achieve this for themselves.
My work is around beliefs, becoming conscious of the beliefs that are running our lives so that we can choose to nurture ones that are serving the best of who we are and leave behind the ones that don’t.
The main tool I use in my work is MetaConsciousness as this helps me to, very specifically, identify the root cause underlying someone’s dis ease.
I can then support them in addressing this much more directly, efficiently and effectively.
You are amazing!
You are beautiful and wonderful and bring fabulous gifts that are perfect for the time and place in which you find yourself.
Relax. Trust.
If you’re currently feeling discomfort of any kind, physical, emotional, spiritual or social, then it’s not that there’s anything wrong with you.
It’s probably that somewhere along the way you’ve picked up a belief, or beliefs that aren’t allowing you to step into the fullness of Who You Really Are.
So, gently, with deep love and compassion, go within, and it’s fine to ask for support in this, explore your beliefs and address these, gently shaping them to ones that are a good fit for you, and see how your life transforms!
Love yourself.
Self care isn’t selfish, it’s the best gift you can give, not only to yourself but also to those around you.
Don’t take things so seriously, trust your own intuition and make more time for fun in your life.
Thank you so much Dejan for this opportunity.
I love what I do and all the people that it brings me into contact with.
Each and every one of them has an amazing story to tell and it’s a privilege to walk beside them for a while.
I’m regularly inspired by their wisdom, strength and courage, and it’s wonderful to see them light up as they find joy through true expressing the full truth of who they are.
