The longest relationship you will have in your life is the one you have with yourself.
What kind of relationship do you have with yourself?
Are you kind to yourself?
Do you nourish, respect, appreciate, and most importantly love yourself?
Or do you do everything you can to ignore yourself, avoid yourself, or not trust yourself?
Some important, and necessary questions to consider.
Most of Us are Not Really Connected with Our Bodies!
This may be because there is so much going on around you that you do not know what or who to trust, and so much chaos and uncertainty.
We are in crisis.
In a world where there is much noise, we are constantly distracted.
Listening to that inner voice of ours, maybe drowned out by all the external stimulation.
I found it interesting that during the recent pandemic, many found it challenging to be by themselves.
They were looking for an outward distraction.
Just the opposite of embracing the time to spend with themselves, get to know themselves and nurture their inner wisdom.
I considered the pandemic to be a gift to reset oneself to being connected to their innate knowledge, that inner wisdom that is our guiding light for our life and has all the answers for us.
More than ever, there is noise, chaos, and much uncertainty in the world.
I feel the noise has gotten louder, the chaos has gotten crazier, and the only certainty is uncertainty.
This is happening faster and faster, and constantly in motion.
With all of this, it makes it harder to discern the correct path to choose regarding any decision you need to make.
The problem is you are detached from your body and who you truly are.
You are constantly in your head, misaligned and even disconnected from your body.
You are getting caught up with all the noise in the external world.
Your body suffers the long term consequences of these effects, possibly though disease or injury.
Sometimes, you just want to get off the merry-go-round of life and have some peace. I sure can relate to this!
7 Tips to Reconnect with Your Body:
Here are some easy tips to help your reconnect with your body.
1. Make yourself a priority in life.
Give yourself permission to do so. If you do not do this for yourself no one else will.
2. Take a vacation from electronic devices.
Turn off social media, news, your devices, and any other distractions.
3. Spend time in nature.
Go for walks or hike. Even if you live in the city, there are parks; spend some time there
4. Take deep breaths.
Deep breathing brings more relaxation into your physical body, and anchors you into your body as well.
5. Spend time with your animal companions.
Animals are about being in their bodies, being spontaneous, and in the moment. You may learn something from them.
6. Spend time with children.
They, too, are spontaneous, in the moment, highly creative, and have great imaginations.
7. Movement and activity are important.
Take up yoga, Qi Gong, dancing, or just going for a 15 min walk without electronic devices. Experience what you are feeling and journal about it.
