Alev Bayrak is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her courage and strength of character.
Her coaching approach is all about bringing more clarity for her clients by deeply listening and showing them angles to look at they were not aware of. All of her clients report a feeling like they have been finally heard after one session.
She is a caring soul and she was consulting and supporting people even before she became a coach.
Her life was not easy, but she learned great lessons through all the hard times, especially through her battle with a serious illness and the recovery after it. Here is what she said.
Meet Life Coach Alev Bayrak:
Name: Alev Bayrak
Pillar: The Mind
Who is this coach for: Anyone who wants to find clarity and feel heard.
How they can help: Through listening and using various techniques like breathing exercises, meditation, and oracle cards.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these Pandemic times?
I’m actually doing good, recovering from cancer I’m actually in remission 😊.
My family is doing well. They had a very hard 2, 3 years during the pandemic, but I think we’re coming to the other side of it all.
Obviously the pandemic has made a very unpleasant impact on us all, but also has made us more thankful for what we have and who we have in our hearts and life’s.
How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?
No because all of my sessions are online and via zoom, etc.
What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?
My biggest lessons during this pandemic is appreciation and being grateful for what you have and, most importantly, kindness, compassion for others who are struggling and who are less fortunate then us.
The Origin:
Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?
Well I’m actually apart from a life coach I’m also a carer, I work in the community, but due to the cancer I’ve cut my hours down. Also I used to look after end of life patients, which in the end has been very hard emotionally.
I had one patient whom I looked after 7 days a week 12 hours a day, I was there till to end.
Very hard, but very rewarding too.
After my patient passed away I started to think I can’t do this anymore, so I myself felt lost and couldn’t find my way towards my career, had no idea what to do.
I actually remember sitting there and crying and feeling hopeless and lost.
But then my sister said to me you have counselling skills and psychology why don’t you do something with that?
That’s when I decided to become a life coach.
So took on courses and books, got my certification and did a lot of practices and gave a lot of freebie’s.
Now I’m here.
What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?
Oh wow that’s a good question, my biggest obstacle had to be having self doubt and not having any confidence in myself.
But with life being the way it is, I’ve learnt that I have to be strong and stand on my own two feet, for example during my cancer treatment, after my third surgery, I woke up from a coma.
Obviously had no idea what was going on, after I got home I could barely walk, but I remember standing infront of the mirror and not recognising myself, I remember saying to myself Alev you need to be strong, get back to how you were, you have family relying on you.
After that even though I could barely walk I forced myself to take a few steps each day until I was able to walk and gain my strength back.
The Coaching Style:
How do you innovate with coaching your clients?
I firstly have a chat with my clients to see how things are what they’re needs are.
Being an empath I can usually sense and feel what they are feeling.
According to that, I then adapt to their needs and what they want.
Also by using my oracle cards during the course of the session, it kind of confirms the situation that they are in.
What’s unique about your coaching approach?
By being present and being in the moment with my client, also being an empath helps.
I also use oracle cards during the session if required.
What benefits do your clients get after working with you?
I’ve been told that they feel listened to and helped to find clarity.
Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?
Breathing Exercises, Meditation, and oracle cards.
The Impact:
If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?
Make most of your life, do what makes you happy.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?
My greatest lesson I’ve learned in my life has to be, unfortunately you can’t trust everyone.
Also, to forgive not for the person who has wronged you but for yourself.
Life is too short and precious to hold on to grudges, forgive but don’t forget and keep your distance.
Your final thoughts?
My final thoughts have to be, life is so precious, don’t always try to make everyone happy because that’s impossible.
And also, follow your dreams, despite everything just keep going.
