Liz Emelogu is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her dedication and purposefulness.
She comes from the business world of banking. She steered toward coaching because she loved giving advice about business, life, career, even interior design. This gave her fulfilment.
She changed her profession and her coaching journey began because she discovered what her real purpose was.
She is helping people do the same by gaining clarity on what they really want to achieve, what are the steps they need to take, what holds them back, and most importantly, what their true potential is. Here is what she said.
Meet Life Coach Liz Emelogu:
Name: Liz Emelogu
Pillar: The Mind
Who is this coach for: Anyone who wants to gain clarity of their true goals and the steps they need to take to get there.
How they can help: By using a mix of traditional coaching with technology and software.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these Pandemic times?
I am good, thank you.
My family is also doing well.
The Pandemic was challenging, unchartered terrain, but we are taking it in one day at a time, in our stride.
We are grateful.
How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?
What I realised is that the pandemic did make people, including myself become even more appreciative of what we had while also questioning what was most important, as such beginning to look at life through a different set of lenses.
Choosing to prioritise things such as possibly spending more quality time with loved ones as against chasing a lot of extra means.
What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?
I have learnt to be more grateful for everything, mostly the little thing that we can easily overlook.
Thankful for family, friends, relationships, and every opportunity to make impact.
The Origin:
Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?
Well, my background is a bit of a lot of things.
I started out in Banking, moved into customer service and then to sales which I did across various sectors.
At that time, I also began to run a little interior design consultancy on the side while working in sales.
I soon realised that I spent more time talking to people about their life, career, and business than interior design.
At this time also I had started questioning myself and my purpose as I was not getting real fulfilment from all I was doing.
However, talking with people I found, gave me joy.
And so began the journey of Coaching.
What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?
I think this will have to be overcoming my LIMITING MINDSET.
Events have happened in my life which at the end of the day have mostly negatively impacted my self belief.
These life events showcased to me how little I thought of myself.
It revealed to me the destructive impact of my debilitating self talk.
So, overcoming this obstacle of a “limiting mindset” and standing to tell myself: I AM ENOUGH, has been the very catalyst and defining moment that has reshaped my world and all around me bringing me this far on this journey to where I am today.
The Coaching Style:
How do you innovate with coaching your clients?
With the pandemic came the innovation of virtual coaching, which until now was not very fashionable.
However, with my coaching, I take it a notch further, introducing technology using a software that enables my clients visually track their development progress and see its impact on their business ROI.
What’s unique about your coaching approach?
Coaching works primary to bring out and elevate a person’s or business’s full potential, I use a digital software to help the person or business be able to practically cast, map, and track their growth on their journey.
What benefits do your clients get after working with you?
Clarity! Clarity of direction! Clarity of Purpose!
Clarity of what they want and hope to achieve or become…
Clarity on the actions steps to help them move forward…
Clarity on what has been holding them back and how to overcome that…
And finally, Clarity on their true potential and the big WHY that will remain the motivation for them to stay on the path even after their time of working with me.
This is my ultimate desire for my client, that is the true benefit my clients walk away with.
Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?
Yes, I believe that coaching is both an art and a science.
So yes, I have found real effectiveness combining the use of technology (a coaching software) and traditional conception of coaching to bring value to the table.
This has proven very profound for my clients as they are able to visual track and adjust their progress on the journey to change.
The Impact:
If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?
I would say that everyone was created for a purpose.
Like the great Myles Munroe said “when purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable.”
Finding your purpose means living a fulfilled life.
The pen and the book all aid writing but each play different roles.
Their functionalities are varied, and purpose therefore different.
Why are you here? Why are you in this phase of life? How do you interpret your life experiences? Why do you exist?
Find your purpose!
What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?
Hmm this is a tough one!
I have learnt different lessons at different seasons of my life, but possible learning to have faith, love and gratitude will rank up high.
They are 3 words that are very related.
Your final thoughts?
People today, possibly more than at any time in history, want to flourish in all aspects of their life.
And what is true is that we all have the greatness within us to flourish.
Taking on a coach maybe the step towards the journey whether in relationships, career, business etc.
See the coach as your accountability partner, the one on your side to make sure those goals are achieved, the one who believes in you, brings you to personal awareness and expands your thinking so you can flourish and be all you desire to be.
My coach helped me step in that direction, let a coach help you too today.
