Ting Wong is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her dedication and persistence.
She spent most of her career in the corporate world trying to find herself.
She knew she is meant for something greater and her intuition lead her to coaching.
Her approach is all about realignment with the self. In her view, a major cause of unhappiness stems from a fundamental disconnect from ourselves. Here is what she said
Meet Life Coach Ting Wong:
Name: Ting Wong
Pillar: The Spirit, The Mind
Who is this coach for: Anyone who wants to get clarity on what they truly want to do with their life and realign with their real purpose
How they can help: By supporting people to reconnect with and rediscover themselves
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these Pandemic times?
Weāre doing fine.
In Singapore where I live, weāve very much gotten used to living with the virus.
Weāre seeing a lot more physical events and meetups as well as travel, a sign of how much people value the human touch as well as experiences.
How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?
Some of my clients were suffering from burnout when they came to me, and the pandemic no doubt played a key role.
Typically my clients would be the kind who suffer from boreout (chronic under stimulation associated with a crisis of growth and meaning), so interestingly during the pandemic, some of them suffered from a combination of boreout and burnout.
The pandemic definitely affected me as it was in the midst of it when I took the leap into the path of solopreneurship and what I consider to be my calling.
The desire to live and work on my own terms was greatly amplified during this time.
What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?
The first big lesson is the importance of self care, as I got close to burnout when starting the business, with so much to learn and do on my own.
I learnt to create a lifestyle that fulfills my personal needs while achieving my business goals, in order for this journey to be sustainable for the long haul.
Iām still learning and continuously refining in this regard, as I go along.
The second big lesson, which is related to the first, is to allow myself the space to be, instead of always focusing on doing.
By supporting myself to be in a state of wellbeing and ease, I connect better with my intuition and thereās more space for inspiration to drop by for a visit.
The Origin:
Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?
I worked in the corporate world for almost my entire career, mostly in governance, risk and compliance roles.
It was a path I was nudged into, and Iāve always felt like something was missing, that I was meant to do something more with my life.
I tried different careers and did lots of personal development work to try to āfind myselfā and discover what I really wanted to do with my life.
On this journey, I stumbled upon life coaching and found that it benefitted me and others around me tremendously.
I got myself trained but stayed in my day job, until The Universe decided to kick me in the butt during the pandemic.
What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?
Healing from traumas and letting go of old belief patterns that no longer serve me. An ongoing process!
The Coaching Style:
How do you innovate with coaching your clients?
I developed my own framework, methodology and program for helping clients get clarity on their life and career direction by reconnecting with and rediscovering themselves.
The methodology was born out of experimenting with my own data from my personal exploration journey.
I call this program the āInspired Life Programā, because it aims to support people to live their most inspired life!
The program has gone through a few iterations as I refined it based on actual client experiences and also incorporated new tools Iāve learnt along the way.
Iāve also had to adapt my process to suit clients depending on their pace.
Iām actually planning to create a new program in the mid term which really excites me. Stay tuned!
Whatās unique about your coaching approach?
My approach to helping clients get clarity, be it for their life or career, is to start from the self.
I believe a key reason for a prolonged dissatisfaction with our lives and the lack of clarity on what we really want, is that weāre disconnected from who we are.
This is a result of social conditioning, where we keep our true selves suppressed in order to follow societal norms.
What I do is support people to reconnect deeply with and realign with their true selves, so that the life and career decisions they make are congruent with who they are.
What benefits do your clients get after working with you?
Having connected deeply with themselves and their Why, clients get clarity on their life and career direction as well as the motivation to act on it.
A number of them have successfully pivoted to their new career path of choice pretty quickly, because opportunities open up when they have the clarity and intention.
Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?
I get my clients to imagine things.
The Impact:
If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?
When you live in alignment with who you truly are, youāll be supported in life. Because thatās the best thing you can do for yourself and for the world.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?
That we can surmount tremendous challenges with self love, which translates into self belief and continuously showing up for ourselves in life.
Your final thoughts?
Life is really short and will be over before we know it.
If we do the things weāve always done, weāll get the life weāve always lived.
If you want a change in your life, you have to be prepared to do something different.
