Find Life Coach | Meet Alberta McKinney: How to Develop the CEO Mindset?

987

Alberta McKinney is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her financial wisdom and strength of character.

She started her career back in the 90s when she worked for Financial Planning Firm. She realized that small businesses had passion but lacked the knowledge of how to operate the business for a long term success and growth.

She ventured from the coaching and mentoring business owners and became a real estate investor. As a real estate investor, she created the “Investor Development Program” and trained new real estate investors. The financial crisis of 2008 created a financial loss in her real estate business. Having a plethora of knowledge allowed her to continue as a coach and mentor during the pandemic. Alberta include coaching and mentoring business owners again.

The thing that helped her gain wisdom from her losses and get back in mentoring again even stronger, was writing her Interactive E book “Develop the CEO Mindset”. Here is what she said.

Name: Alberta McKinney

Pillar: The Mind

Who is this coach for: Anyone, especially business owners who want to develop a CEO Mindset, grow their business, and become the most successful version of themselves.

How they can help: Through coaching and using the “Develop the CEO Mindset” interactive E book as a tool.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these Pandemic times?

My family and I are doing wonderful.

I viewed the Pandemic as a shifting for the timing of mankind.

Our lives will never be the same from a worldwide perspective.

I like to look back at a situation and wonder “what just happen?” Because it caused such a dramatic shifting in the world… changing societal views, the way we view each other, the way we do business, animals reacting, diversity, wars, racism, the exposure of thoughts and opinions ect. It caused a major transformation of mankind.

The phrase “The New Normal” was coined in 2008 during that financial crisis.

Can this now be called “The New, New Normal.”

I believe the cycle is not complete yet. Crisis are still happening.

I believe we should continue to prepare for whatever the next wave of events might bring.

Keep in mind the Government system and the Fortune 500 companies’ only goal is for their survival.

How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?

The pandemic created a surge of individuals who wanted to start their own business.

This particular market was an interesting group of individuals.

I witness several companies offering them pie in the sky dreams.

That was not something I would ever do.

During the early start of the pandemic, I watched to understand what state of mind these individuals were in.

I advised my business owners to continue their business as usual.

I continued doing videos and speaking to teams and groups.

When a business has their budget complete, revenue projections in place and following their KPI’s there is no reason to get off track.

Making additional money is great but never lose focus especially when it is a temporary situation.

What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?

Be prepared for change.

In financial planning we teach you to have 3 to 6 months of emergency funds available to cover your monthly expenses.

The pandemic put that theory to challenge.

I now teach and focus on, have a property that has multiple units to create income to secure your financial situation.

Purchasing this type of property is what I suggest to all my business owners and clients.

In other words… Make sure you and your family are secure in times of change!

The Origin:

Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?

My coaching career really started back in the late nineties.

I worked with a Financial Planning Firm.

We worked with business owners in a section of Miami Dade called “Overtown” as well as Jackson Memorial Hospital and Educators.

I realized at that time small business owners followed their passion and dreams of being a business owner. Yet they lacked the necessary knowledge of how a business is operated for long term success.

Working with those business owners was no longer doing business as usual.

It has now become my Cause.

It is imperative for the long term survival of small business owners to know and understand how successful businesses are operated.

I ventured away from the business as I got involved in the real estate business as an investor and mortgage broker.

Of, course the income was more lucrative than business and retirement planning.

After the 2008 recession, like many others, I suffered a major financial loss.

After several years I reentered the coaching and mentoring business because of the pandemic.

I did an assessment of my financial loss which birthed my interactive E book “Developing the CEO Mindset.”

I needed to know what type of business foundation the fortune 500 companies built for their sustainability even in times of trouble.

I reeducated myself to become relevant to current products, services and technology.

I discovered educating business owners through coaching and mentoring that business success is in the mind of the business owner was crucial.

Without recognizing themselves as the CEO of their business and building the business with the proper foundation failure is imminent.

This level of education for the business owner gave them new insight that most never knew existed.

They are able to now think and operate their business with confidence because they are on track and can see where their business KPIs are at all times.

It is a wonderful and fulfilling experience to help businesses create generational businesses.

What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?

To say the least, it was the financial crisis of 2008.

I often use the scenario of a glass of milk that has a bottom with a cork in it. Remove the cork and that is how fast all the equity fell out of all the properties I owned.

Keep in mind that was the death of my real estate business.

Any time there is a death, a mourning period must take place.

For some of us moving on can be challenging because our lives demands attention.

My son was in college with expenses I had to pay.

I did not have the luxury of mourning.

I had to carry the loss on the inside of me and appear to move on.

My recovery took me years of wandering what would be my next move.

Writing my interactive E book “Developing the CEO Mindset” gave me the relief I needed and the answers I needed to rebuild and continue on my journey.

The Coaching Style:

How do you innovate with coaching your clients?

Great question!

Introducing this new concept to existing business owners can be challenging because they have had some success.

As a coach or mentor, we must have compassion and understanding to introduce new ideals.

Making sure we are aware of how the business owner will accept this new ideal we are offering.

This is where my interactive E book “Developing the CEO Mindset” assist me.

They purchase a copy and can now answer a few questions which gives them an understanding of where they are in their business mindset compared too where they need to be.

My interactive E book is a great assistant!

What’s unique about your coaching approach?

What I have found to be the uniqueness of my coaching approach is giving my business owners hope and a future.

I have seen them go from “I really hope I make some money” to knowing and believing they will make some money.

Once they reviewed and studied “Developing the CEO Mindset” and understood the difference between having a business mindset and just hoping they make money, it gave them peace of mind.

Having a plan and seeing the numbers, understanding what KPI is and why it’s important to the survival of their business made all the difference.

Introducing buying a multi family unit that brings in additional income becomes the highlight of their future.

It is as if they know they can’t lose now.

The Bible tells us: “Hope does not disappoint.” Romans 5:5

What benefits do your clients get after working with you?

My clients get the benefit of knowing they are working with someone they can trust and believe in.

The person that referrals me has given them so much confidence that I am authentic and will work in their best interest.

They can’t wait to meet with me and share what they want their future to look like.

We should always position ourselves to be the “ONLY” choice!

Here are few client reviews:

Client Review 1: “This program has changed my life. I had another mentor that I had to walk away from because I stayed lost within the course. I’m in Alberta’s Investor Development program now. Alberta put together an individualized plan for me after one phone call. Meeting twice a week through zoom has changed me to be organized and be held accountable. Any questions I have, I bring to our meetings, and I am met with thorough information. Having a mentor who caters to you specifically was something I never thought I would have. Now I feel it’s the Most Valuable asset to myself and my business. She is always positive and encourages me to think big. Now, because of her my goals and dreams are Much Bigger.” – Lanesha D., Owner of Major Rentals, LLC
