“This is like being dressed in your values from inside and out.”
Carin BladhCarin Bladh is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her positivity and dedication.
She traces her passion for understanding the intricacies of learning and human psychology back to her early days as a schoolgirl. She wanted and chose to study medicine and become a Doctor. However, her path took an unexpected turn during a honeymoon sailing adventure, where a tick bite led to a battle with Borrelia, a challenge that would redefine her life.
Confronted with partial paralysis and a quest for answers, she embarked on a personal odyssey, ultimately discovering the transformative power of coaching in the late 1990s. Coaching literally saved her life. Armed with a toolkit enriched by studies in the brain, Positive Psychology, and NLP she employs diverse methods, from whiteboards to toys, designing an experience that feels natural and in sync with each client.
Her coaching philosophy transcends traditional checkpoints, working beneath the surface of roles and behaviors to explore the beauty within everyone willing to invest time and energy. For her, professional coaching is not merely a task, it’s an exploration of one’s unique way of being, a journey through family, business, work, and every step taken in life, just like sailing. This is about finding your own way of being, how to live your life in the safe core of your life, where ever it is for you. For example: family, business, friends, work, your specific safe core and wherever you place your foot! Here is what she said.

Name: Carin Bladh, Leadership and Life Coach, ICF Master Certified Coach

Who is this coach for: Especially CEOs, owners, leaders, directors, investors, entrepreneurs, board members, and athletes, who really want to invest and learn how to sail through their lives and achieve their goals with grace, ease, and positivity.
How the clients can be helped: Through various tools and techniques like NLP and Positive Psychology, just to name a few.
First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?
Thanks, we are fine, and we have been lucky through these hard times of the Pandemic.
How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?
I gradually shifted my business online as we moved from one location to another, following the path of our sailing boat. We moved before Corona.
My clients, CEOs, owners, leaders, directors, investors, entrepreneurs, board members, and athletes, find me online, and we also combine our work with meetings in real life.
What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?
I’ve already had my lesson, kind of, after 20 years of dealing with uncertainty.
This experience has provided me with a deep perspective on life, where gratitude plays a central role.
I always say, ‘Thank you!’
The Origin:
Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?
I developed a deep interest in how, when, and why we learn during my early years as a schoolgirl.
Although I initially considered studying medicine, I eventually chose to become a teacher, pursuing my interest in special needs, learning styles, and human psychology.
During our honeymoon, as a young bride sailing away from the party, I was bitten by a tick and contracted Borrelia.
I was partly paralyzed with inflammation in my brain, and despite looking young and healthy with a tan from sailing, no one believed how sick I really was, as Borrelia was not known at that time.
My interest in the brain and body, and how to get back on track, was awakened.
We had three kids, and I struggled with my health, finding no cure for my disease.
Through my own studies, some assistance, and in the late 1990s, I stumbled upon the path of coaching, and it saved my life!
Without coaching, I would never have been able to live the wonderful life I have today!
What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?
To fight the Borrelia and live with not knowing.. what is wrong with my energy… that was hard, and I’m so happy that I came back!
The Coaching Style:
How do you innovate with coaching your clients?
I absolutely love my work, which focuses on how to learn and develop self leadership in leading oneself and others.
This work involves understanding behavior, learning styles, personalities, psychology, and much more, rooted in our brains.
I made a decision to master my craft, to develop my skills to the fullest, and to share my passion for life and work with as many people as possible.
My clients and I work in deep co creation.
Together, we innovate, finding joy and fun in our collaboration while uncovering deep seated values that align with their developmental journey.
My role is to tailor my approach to their most effective learning style, encourage purposeful exercises, stay attuned, and offer them more than 100% of my presence.
I simply love what I do, my job is not just work, it’s a passion!
What’s unique about your coaching approach?
My positive energy, joy, wisdom, creativity, and careful listening skills are layered in 50 dimensions.
What benefits do your clients get after working with you?
They connect with their own positive energy, embark on a journey of exploration and learning, discovering how to continually learn, how to work with their strengths, and, ultimately, how to embrace, respect, and even over time, be grateful for their weaknesses as the greatest gifts for personal development!
The results are mind blowing, and they keep telling me that it goes beyond their expectations!
Here is a list of the main benefits that the clients get:
- Personal Development
- Strategic Leadership
- Team Development
- Stress Management
- Successful Communication
- Goal and Result Orientation
- Conflict Management
- Future Planning
- Overall Time Management, Being Present in the Moment.
Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?
I have studied, the brain, Positive Psychology and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), Transformational coaching, Coaching Supervison, Coaching connected so language, body and soul, and through these studies, I’ve acquired a wealth of tools and exercises.
We can write on a whiteboard, use paper, paint, employ film and photos, and place ourselves in the best environment.
I have coached in the mountains, the Alps, at sea, in airplanes, in the woods, and in the most unexpected environment you can think of, with great success!
Sometimes, I use toys, shells, pens, items that give ‘body’ to the situation at hand.
I only do what feels natural in the moment and in synchronicity with my client.
I help them to embody their learning, they only need themselves! No books, no watch… they learn to enjoy their learning from within.
The results of all this, as clients express in their evaluations, go beyond expectations.
Beyond what they had anticipated, imagined, or prepared for, they develop themselves in a sustainable way, continuing to learn and finding exciting new avenues.
My professional coaching is not about ‘getting the job done and being ready, safe, and sound.’
There are no such checkpoints to accomplish.
It works beneath the surface of different roles, manners, and behaviors.
We explore the beauty of the core within everyone interested in investing time and energy.
This is about finding your own way of being, how to live ‘in the core of your life´, which might be: in family, business, work, friends, and wherever you place your foot!
This is to “move into” your values, in both words and most of all in your behavior, how you show up.
This is like being dressed in your values from inside and out.
The Impact:
If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?
Please, listen up:
You have only one life! Dear You, seize the opportunity to make the most of this beautiful life of yours!
What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?
In my business life as a coach, I had to shed some old patterns.
I underwent a significant learning curve, transitioning from being ‘the Teacher,’ someone who knows better, to becoming a Coach (who knows ‘nothing’), someone who asks open questions with the intention to help the coachee (the person receiving coaching) realize and find their own answers from within.
The learning curve remains active, and I’ll provide you with two examples from my current work:
1. Today, as an ICF MCC, I utilize my skills in positive psychology, learning styles, NLP, etc., as tools for my clients to choose from and become aware of.
2. Also, as an ICF MCC today, I apply these skills in navigating today’s complex marketplace: understanding how to provide clients with the services I can offer, being clear about my business role, and understanding myself better.
I approach every person I meet in my job with extreme care, connected to my values of each person’s life and history.
I continue to study and learn, and just yesterday, I earned my new badge as a an ICF Master Certified Coach, which is active for three consecutive years.
To maintain this certification, one must undergo further learning every third year.
When I achieved the highest badge, ICF Master Certified Coach, I felt like, ‘Well, here I am, and a goal is accomplished. Now, Carin, it finally begins! I realize how little I know, and I am curious to learn more!’
In my own life, the mantra is ‘Family First.’
Since this principle took root, ‘Family First’ has always been on my mind.
This New Year’s Eve marks 50 years since I met my husband, and here we are!
My idea is to stay cool, trust the process, and go with the flow as naturally as possible, listening to nature, the rhythm, the situation, and circumstances, as we do in our sailing.
I love how we need to adapt, focus, and enjoy the ride in the water, wind, and sun!
Your final thoughts?
Thank you!
I am deeply grateful for this opportunity to share a little about my passion and love for my work.
Please feel free to reach out, and I will do my best to respond!
