Johannes Mtsweni is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with him. He impressed us with his passion and courage.
His path is one of deep transformation and divine guidance. Few have experienced the depth of transformation that he experienced. After battling addiction for 18 years and spending a decade living on the streets, he has now turned his life around to become a powerful motivational speaker and recovery coach.
His journey of overcoming substance use disorder and living with HIV/AIDS has not only shaped his life but has become the cornerstone of his coaching style, where personal experience is his most powerful tool. Four years ago, after achieving recovery, he began sharing his story with local schools, eventually gaining recognition from both individuals struggling with addiction and community organizations. His work has inspired countless people, from those battling addiction to their families seeking guidance.
His coaching is more than just a profession, it’s a calling, rooted in empathy, understanding, and a commitment to creating lasting change in the lives of those he serves. With an approach that transcends age, gender, and background, he provides his clients with hope, peace, and a renewed sense of direction. Here is what he said…
Name: Johannes Mtsweni
Pillar: The Heart
Who is this coach for: Anyone who needs inspiration and motivation to change their life on better.
How they can help: Through motivational talk.
I’m great and my family is also well thanks.
During the corona virus I was still a drug addict living on the streets
It’s not what society percieves about our surrounding or future but what is inside.
As it was know that the corona virus relates to dirt and everything, but I was not even bathing during that time.
What’s even worse was that I was eating from rubbish on the streets.
I’m a Recovering Addict a Motivational Speaker that abused drugs for 18 yrs and 10 of those, I was staying on the streets.
My career started 4 yrs ago when I decided to come back home from the streets.
After 5 months in recovery, I decided to go to our local schools and share my story on addiction because I started drugs working as a lecture at PC Training and business college in Witbank, paid Lobola and had a son.
I ended up loosing everything and living on the streets.
After 1 school it led to another.
Those who are still addicted started looking up to me as their inspiration.
Mothers and other family members started to ask for advice while our Social Development and other governmental stakeholders started to notice my work.
Overcoming Addictoin (Substance Use Disorder) living with HIV/AIDs has given me all I need to make it.
My expirience is my best tool for I can descend between truth and lies and I also decided to get more factual knowledge surrounding the issues in regards.
This is not a job, but a higher calling that I have to fulfill.
It addresses all ages despite their gender, religion, race or any of that.
It is also life changing guaranteed.
Understanding and a clear sense of hope, peace and rest.
No.
You can only change yourself from within, nothing more, nothing less.
One can change their lives simply by changing their attitude.
Witness change as it happens and say no to drugs.
