First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?
Thank you for asking.
My family and I are doing well, and we’re grateful for the strength and perspective we’ve gained during these challenging times.
It’s been a chance to deepen our connections and focus on what truly matters.
How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?
The pandemic brought about tremendous uncertainty, and for many of my clients, it was a time of grappling with change, loss, and the unknown.
But it also presented opportunities to pivot, adapt, and redefine priorities.
For me personally, it reinforced the importance of resilience and adaptability, qualities I emphasize in my work.
It also deepened my appreciation for the human capacity to rise above challenges, to find meaning even in difficult times, and to keep moving forward with purpose.
What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?
I don’t subscribe to the idea of ‘biggest lessons’… life is an ongoing process of learning and growing.
The pandemic, like any major challenge, served as a vivid reminder of the value of staying present, focusing on the lessons right in front of us, and approaching them with full effort and a healthy dose of self skepticism.
These principles have always guided my work, and the circumstances only deepened my commitment to living them moment by moment.
The Origin:
Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?
I fell in love with fulfilling human potential in the 1970s.
Back then, I was introduced to and became a trainer in various methodologies, including Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Bioenergetics, and Psychodrama.
These tools opened my eyes to the power of transformation, not just in individuals but in relationships and organizations.
Over time, I realized that my passion wasn’t just in understanding these tools but in helping others unlock their full potential and live lives of greater purpose and fulfillment.
What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?
I’ve been blessed to meet and be trained by some of the best in the world, and that privilege shaped who I am today.
But I also felt a profound responsibility to pass those blessings on to others… whether through coaching, training, or our best selling books.
The biggest obstacle was learning to fully embrace that responsibility while continually growing myself, staying humble, and recognizing that the journey of transformation is ongoing.
The Coaching Style:
How do you innovate with coaching your clients?
I view myself primarily as an educator.
My goal is to empower my clients with a clear understanding of what they’re doing, why they’re doing it, and how to sustain their growth.
To achieve this, I’ve spent years doing extensive iterative research to develop tools that integrate the best of human emergence technologies.
These tools not only help clients take charge of their development but also make them better consumers of their own growth, capable of navigating their unique paths with clarity and confidence.
What’s unique about your coaching approach?
Few coaches have had the privilege of working with clients over decades, guiding them from their first jobs to positions of national and international prominence.
This long term engagement has given me unparalleled insights into the arc of human development.
My approach integrates higher purpose, vision holding, strategic planning, tactical execution, and daily discipline.
It’s a blend of big picture thinking and actionable steps that helps clients transform their lives holistically.
What benefits do your clients get after working with you?
I lead my clients to a full, well rounded life… greater fulfillment, deeper relationships, and a clearer sense of purpose.
These outcomes are reflected in the two best selling books I COauthored with my wife and partner, Dr. Judith Wright, “The Heart of the Fight“, which explores how navigating conflicts can bring people closer together…
And “Transformed! The Neuroscience of Changing Your Life for the Better, Forever“, which delves into our research into great lives and how that research can help create lasting, meaningful change in our own lives.
Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?
I use a variety of tools, but it all begins with Adlerian Lifestyle Analysis, which helps clients understand the patterns driving their behaviors.
From there, we move into planning, visioning, and strategic execution.
For more details, I encourage you to explore our books… they offer a wealth of insight into the frameworks and methodologies we use.
The Impact:
If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?
Learn, Grow, and Serve!
What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?
I’ve learned to avoid ‘greatest’ questions… and perhaps that’s one of the greatest lessons itself!
Life isn’t about one ultimate insight… it’s a series of ongoing lessons, each shaping us in different ways.
What stands out most to me is the importance of staying open to those lessons, finding opportunities for growth in every situation, and embracing the process of becoming, rather than seeking a single defining moment.
Your final thoughts?
Thank you for this opportunity to share.
Transformation is an ongoing journey, and I’m honored to be a part of it with the many clients, readers, and learners I’ve had the privilege to work with.
Together, we can keep learning, growing, and creating lives of greater purpose and meaning.
