Florence Ekong is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her passion and resilience.

She is the founder of Holisticflo and she has built a thriving online coaching practice, addressing challenges such as depression, stress, and life imbalance. Her dedication extends to empowering women and marginalized communities through initiatives like the “PainEase” project, which supports menstrual health and provides sanitary pads to underprivileged women and girls in slum areas.

First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?

My family and I are doing well, all things considered.

The pandemic certainly presented its challenges, but we’ve emerged stronger and more resilient than ever before.

We’re grateful for our health and the opportunity to reevaluate our priorities and find new ways to thrive.

How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?

The pandemic certainly had a significant impact on my clients, as it did for so many around the world.

Many experienced heightened anxiety, uncertainty, and disruption to their daily routines and long term plans.

As a coach, I witnessed my clients grappling with challenges such as:

  1. Navigating the transition to remote work and online learning.
  2. Dealing with social isolation and the lack of in person connection.
  3. Coping with financial strain and career and business uncertainty.
  4. Prioritising self care and mental health amidst the chaos.

At the same time, the pandemic also presented opportunities for profound personal growth and transformation.

Many of my clients used this time to reconnect with their values, reevaluate their priorities, and make meaningful shifts in their lives.

Personally, the pandemic also presented obstacles, as I had to quickly pivot my in person workshops and community outreach efforts.

However, I was able to leverage my strong online presence and digital skill set to maintain and even expand my reach.

Ultimately, this period reinforced the importance of holistic, accessible support for overall health and well being.

However, this experience has only deepened my commitment to my work and my clients.

I’ve emerged from this period with an even stronger sense of purpose, resilience, and innovation.

My coaching approach has evolved to better support my clients in navigating complex, challenging times with clarity, courage, and compassion.

What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?

The pandemic taught me so many invaluable lessons, but a few stand out as particularly profound:

1. The importance of adaptability and embracing change.

The ability to pivot, innovate, and find new ways of operating was essential to not just surviving, but thriving during such uncertain times.

2. The power of community and connection (even when physically distanced).

Finding ways to stay emotionally and socially connected, whether virtually or in small, safe ways, was a lifeline for so many.

3. The necessity of prioritising self care and mental health.

The pandemic underscored how crucial it is to build resilience, cultivate inner resources, and make our wellbeing a top priority.

4. The fragility, yet also the resilience, of the human spirit.

I witnessed both immense suffering and awe inspiring acts of courage, kindness, and growth during this period.

It was a powerful reminder of our capacity to overcome challenges.

5. The interconnectedness of all things.

The pandemic revealed how our individual actions and choices impact the greater whole.

It highlighted our responsibility to care for one another and our planet.

These lessons have fundamentally transformed the way I approach my life and my work as a coach.

They continue to inspire me to help my clients develop the mindsets, skills, and practices to navigate uncertainty with grace.

The Origin:

Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?

I’ve always had a deep passion for personal growth, wellness, and helping others unlock their full potential. 

I’m a professional Holistic Health and Wellness Coach, energy healer, and mental health counsellor.

I’ve been passionate about helping people achieve optimal health and well being through an integrative, mind and body approach for many years. 

My coaching journey began after I completed my training as an auxiliary nurse and became deeply interested in the interplay between emotional, mental, and physical health.

I witnessed firsthand how a holistic approach could have a profound impact, so I pursued additional certifications in areas like professional Holistic Health Coach,energy healing, and mental health support. 

Over the past years, I’ve built a thriving online coaching practice, helping clients overcome challenges like depression, stress, and lack of life balance.

I’m also focused on empowering women and serving marginalised communities through initiatives like my “PainEase” project to support menstrual health naturally and sharing Sanitary pads to unprivileged women and girl children in slum areas.

Today, I’m the founder of Holisticflo, a thriving coaching and education platform that empowers individuals around the world to cultivate their most fulfilled, authentic lives.

It’s been an immensely rewarding journey, and I’m honoured to guide my clients through their own transformative experiences.

What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?

The biggest obstacle I had to overcome was witnessing the neglect of health and reliance on harmful superstitions within my own community growing up.

I saw too many instances where people would refuse to seek proper medical care, instead attributing illness to witchcraft or other supernatural causes.

There were even cases where people died unnecessarily because they were denied basic treatment.

Seeing these tragedies unfold fueled my passion for taking a more holistic, evidence based approach to health and wellness.

I made it my mission to educate people and advocate for them to seek the care they needed, rather than falling victim to dangerous beliefs.

This core experience shaped my coaching philosophy and approach, I’m driven to empower my clients to take charge of their well being and not accept any barriers to accessing the support they deserve.

Overcoming that systemic challenge in my community was incredibly difficult, but it’s also what makes me who I am today.

It’s given me a profound empathy and commitment to helping others overcome obstacles, make positive changes, and reach their full potential.

That personal history is a big part of what makes my coaching unique and impactful.

I’m forever grateful for the lessons it taught me and the way it continues to inform my work.

I’m constantly innovating my holistic coaching approach to best serve my clients’ unique needs.

This includes incorporating the latest evidence based techniques in areas like breathwork, mindfulness, and energy healing.

I also leverage digital tools and platforms to provide convenient, accessible support to a global client base.

Most importantly, I tailor my methods to each individual, blending modalities like online and one on one coaching, group workshops, and self guided resources.

The goal is to empower my clients to take an active role in their health and wellness journey.

What makes my coaching approach truly unique is the way I seamlessly blend cutting edge, evidence based psychology and neuroscience with ancient wisdom traditions and holistic healing modalities.

I don’t believe in a one size fits all methodology.

Instead, I take the time to deeply understand each client’s unique needs, goals, and learning style.

Then I customize a transformative journey that draws from a vast toolkit of techniques and resources.

At the core of my approach is a deep reverence for the mind, body and spirit connection.

I help my clients cultivate greater self awareness, emotional intelligence, and somatic intelligence, empowering them to make profound shifts not just in their thoughts and behaviours, but in their very experience of being.

This integrated, holistic approach allows my clients to access profound, lasting change.

They don’t just feel better temporarily, but they develop the mindsets, habits, and resources to continue evolving and thriving long after our work together.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?

The greatest lesson I’ve learned in my life is the power of self-acceptance and self love.

For so long, I struggled with feelings of inadequacy, self doubt, and the constant pursuit of external validation.

It was a painful and exhausting way to live.

But through my own personal growth journey, I’ve come to deeply understand and embody the truth that our worthiness is innate.

We are all infinitely deserving of love, belonging, and fulfilment, exactly as we are.

When we can fully accept and cherish ourselves, our strengths, our flaws, our unique quirks and qualities, we unlock an incredible wellspring of inner peace, resilience, and creative potential.

We stop looking to others to define us and instead learn to trust the profound wisdom of our own hearts and souls.

This lesson has revolutionised every aspect of my life.

It has allowed me to forge deeper, more authentic connections, pursue my passions with unwavering conviction, and show up fully in service of others.

And it is the foundational principle that underpins all of my work as a coach.

My greatest hope is to help my clients also realise this life changing truth, that they are whole, perfect, and enough, just as they are.

From that place of self love and self acceptance, the possibilities for growth, joy, and positive impact are truly limitless.
